Kalima Horra (Free Word show – Audience format)
Kalima Horra, A Bi-weekly show, featuring a studio audience and experts, stood as the flagship current affairs TV talk show for Al-Mayadeen TV, an independent and international news network based in Beirut, Lebanon. Translated as “Free Word,” the original format of Kalima Horra was hosted by George Galloway, who commenced each episode with an insightful prelude addressing the most pressing global issues.
During the show, George Galloway actively engaged with the audience and experts, responding to challenges and questions posed by audience members and the invited speakers in alignment with the theme of the episode. The show’s ethos was centered on encouraging open and unrestricted conversation.
However, with the onset of the Covid lockdown restrictions, bringing the audience into the studio became impractical. Consequently, starting in April 2020, the format of the show transitioned into a roundtable debate featuring three experts in the studio and connected via satellite/internet links with additional speakers from around the globe. This adaptation allowed Kalima Horra to continue its mission of fostering meaningful discussions amid challenging circumstances.
